Engage your child in everyday life. 

For example, when you go shopping encourage them write (mark make) a shopping list, ask them to find the items on the shelves and if paying with money, let they handle the coins.

At home, ask them to lay the table for tea and count out the plates and cups or count the steps when climbing the stairs to bed.

Talk about the weather to them and how the seasons change.  Can they describe the trees they see and talk about the changes through each season.
